These slides lead off with what I call my "Fragment Style". In the 70s and early 80s, I liked the idea of creating a montage image that would inspire the viewer to hunt down the dozens of little objects and words that were mashed up. I worked a lot in colored pencil on paper, as well as oil or acrylic. Eventually, I found my way back to a more realistic approach. In the 80s I learned pastel and I include a few figures from that era.
Assemblage has always been an interest. What could be more fun than fitting found objects into some 3 dimensional story?
With the advent of the digital age, I grew fascinated with the powers of Photoshop. I created many montages from the great variety of photos I had on hand. I especially enjoyed the thought of leaves blowing by various backgrounds, and even forming figurative shapes.
Also included are a few ink or charcoal drawings. I've never lost my love of the power of black and white.
